Anne Lucas, 85, Enjoyed Baking
Anne Lucas (nee Fidyk), age 85, of Lorain, died Thursday May 6th at St. John Westshore Hospital following an illness of six months.She was born in Lorain on Dec. 17, 1924 and remained a life-long resident of the city; she was a graduate of Lorain High School.
Anne was employed by the General Industries Corporation in Elyria for more than four decades; she retired from there as an inspector in the early 1980’s. She was an active member of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church where she was a member of the church choir, as well as the Russian Brotherhood Organization (RBO), and the church’s Sisterhood Organization. She was also a member of the Lorain R Club.
In her free time she enjoyed baking, taking care of her pet canary, watching professional basketball, and viewing movies about World War II.
She is survived by nieces Carol Freeman and Margaret Pysarchyk both of Lorain, Christine Pawlowski of Avon Lake, and by nephews Timothy Fidyk of Lebanon, Tennessee and Jack Pysarchyk of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Steve in 1988, by her parents John and Magdalyna (nee Woloszanski), by her brother Thomas Fidyk, and by sister Kathryne Pysarchyk and her infant sister Sophie.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A Parastas service will conclude the visitation at 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be Monday in Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church (2238 East 32nd Street, Lorain) from 9 a.m. until time of services at 10 a.m. Archpriest Basil Stoyka, Pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
