Arthur A. Pacheco, Sr., 77, Avid Cleveland Indians Fan

Photo of Arthur A. Pacheco, Sr. Arthur A. Pacheco, Sr., 77 of Lorain passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Hospice of Saint Joseph, Lorain following a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 25, 1933 in Guadalupita, New Mexico He was raised in Rock Springs, Wyoming. He came to Lorain in 1966.

Mr. Pacheco retired in 1996 as a coil binder in USS/Kolbe Steel, Lorain. He also worked in the Boiler Shop and the Bar Mill. He worked there for 30 Years.

He served in US Army in Korea during the Korean Conflict earning the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Star, the National Service Metal and the United Nations Service Metal.

Mr. Pacheco was a member of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish and the former Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church both of Lorain. He was also a member of the United Steel Workers Local 1104, Lorain and the Mexican Mutual of Lorain. He enjoyed Lake Erie and fishing it, landscaping and traveling with his family out west. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of 48 years Juanita Pacheco (nee Valderrama), his sons Richard (Susanna) Pacheco of Sacramento, California, Arthur Pacheco, Jr. and Leo (Laura) Pacheco both of Lorain, his daughters Tomasita A. (Joseph) Boyle of Avon Lake and Jennifer (Josue) Rivera of Lorain, his brother Gilbert (Dolores) Pacheco and his sister Odilia P. (Lew L. ) Hanson both of Rock Springs, his 14 grandchildren and his great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose N. and Maria T. (nee Espinoza) Pacheco.

His family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277-8164. Where closing prayers will be Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by Mass of the Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Frances Cabrini Parish at St. John Church, 2143 Homewood Drive, Lorain. Rev Thomas R. Smith, Pastor will officiate. Burial will following Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20 and the Army will conduct Military Honors.
