Kenneth L. Hennes, 71, Outside Plant Engineer

Kenneth L. Hennes, age 71 of Elyria, formerly of Lorain, died Saturday May 29, 2010 in Anchor Lodge Nursing Center.

He was born October 12, 1938 in Lorain and resided there most of his life, moving to Elyria ten years ago.

Mr. Hennes was an Outside Plant Engineer for Centurytel Co. He retired in 1999 after forty years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1956 thru 1959.

Mr. Hennes belonged to St. Mary Church in Elyria, and was a longtime member of St. Anthony Church in Lorain. He had been an active member of the Holy Name Society. He also belonged to the Lorain Lion's Club, and the Amvets Post 32 in Elyria. In years past he was very active in the Lorain Little League, and the Lorain High Athletic Boosters. He was a founding member of the Longfellow Band Boosters, and also enjoyed traveling.

He is survived by his wife of nine years Patricia, sons Timothy J. and Thomas D. Hennes of Lorain, daughters Jill M. Hennes of Mineral, VA, and Becky A. Yurovich of Mechanicsburg, PA., step-children Jack Wallace of Lorain, John Bush of Barnsville, OH, and Diane Moser of Elyria. He has 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, brothers Jerome Hennes of SC, Harold Hennes of Akron, and Leo Hennes of Titusville, PA, and a sister Marlene Girton of IN.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Patricia L. nee Zakrajsek in 1998, and his parents Harold and Emily (Stofko) Hennes.

Friends may call Wednesday June 2, 2010 from 5 PM to 9 PM in Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway Lorain. Lorain Lion's Club will conduct services at 7 PM.

Funeral services will be Thursday beginning with closing prayers at 9 AM in the funeral home followed by Mass at 10 AM in St. Mary Church, 320 Middle Ave., Elyria. Fr. Charles Diedrick will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Lorain.
