Anne M. ''Boots'' Brandies, 86, Sales Associate
Anne M. "Boots" Brandies (nee Yenchi), 86, of Amherst Township, died Sunday May 30, 2010 at the Hearthstone in Lorain.She was born March 11, 1924 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and had resided in the Lorain and Amherst Township areas since 1956.
Anne worked as a sales associate at Higbee's and later as a cashier at Sparkle Market where she had struck up many friendships with shoppers.
Anne was a vivacious person who was almost child-like in her enjoyment of the wonders of life such as blue skies and colorful flowers. She enjoyed riding horses, art, music and gardening. She was proud of her Slovak heritage and enjoyed cooking and baking Slovak foods.
She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township.
She is survived by her daughter Andrea Brandies of Laurel, Maryland, sister Helene Yenchi of Palm Springs, California, son-in-law Greg Bartish of Amherst Township, grandchildren Ann Margaret Brunkow (Vince) of San Diego, California and Christopher Bartish (Hye Young) of Amherst and great grandchildren Alex and Catrina Brunkow.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Brandies in 2009, daughter Carolyn Bartish in 2008 and parents Nicholas and Anna Yenchi.
The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral mass at 10:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria Twp. The Rev. James Ols, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
