Betty Jean Mielcarek, 65, Enjoyed Playing Pinochle
Betty Jean Mielcarek, (nee Musser), age 65, of Sheffield Lake, died Tuesday June 1, 2010, at Community Health Partners Hospital & Surgical Center following an extended illness.
She was born in Dubois, Pennsylvania on July 24, 1944 and had been a resident of Sheffield Lake since 1966. She had previously resided in Lakewood, Ohio.
A graduate of Lakewood High School, she attended Faith Lutheran Church in Avon. In her free time she enjoyed all types of games as well as playing pinochle. She was also an ardent fan of the QVC network.
She had also formerly enjoyed communicating via citizen band radio and was known to many by the handle Meter Maid.
She is survived by her daughter Sherryl (nee Maruna) Kempe (husband Donald) of Sheffield Lake, by sons Jeffrey Maruna (wife Kelley) and Eric Mielcarek both of Sheffield Lake, and Edward S. Mielcarek, Jr. of Lakewood. She also is survived by 5 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, brothers James Musser residing in Pahrump, Nevada and William Bill Musser of Columbus, Ohio, and by her sister Judith Judy Healey of Avon.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward S. Mielcarek, Sr. in 1991 and by her parents Malvin and Winifred (nee Vaughan) Musser.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m.. Reverend David Woolsey, Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Avon will officiate. Family burial services will be conducted later in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
