Servando M. Martinez 63, of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, June 30, 2010 in Community Health Partners Regional Medical Center, Lorain, following a short illness.He was born July 29, 1946 in Tamaulipas, Mexico. He moved to Comfort, Texas in 1963. He made Lorain his home in 1967.
Mr. Martinez owned and operated the Quick Clean Laundromat for 15 years until 2001. He also worked for U.S. Steel for 4 Years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, Mexican dances and music. He loved family gatherings and his grand children.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 44 Years, Gilda Martinez (nee Ybarra) of Lorain, sons Armando (Estefana) and Jesse Martinez both of Lorain, daughters Rita Martinez of Lorain and Elisa (Amado) Martinez of Toledo, Brother Antonio Martinez of Alice, Texas and Jesse and Olivero Martinez of Huston, Texas, sister Victoria Cordero of Huston, grandchildren Victoria (Martin) Gonzalez, Jesse, Alejandra, Amado, Andrea, Tinamarie, Damacio, Penelope and Ava Martinez and a great grand daughter Thalia Martinez, many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Guadalupe (nee Muniz) Martinez, brother Andres Martinez, sisters Ludivina Sandoval and Anastacia James.
His family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164, where closing prayers will be Saturday at 8:45 in the funeral home then Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William A. Thaden, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
