Andres Roldan, 86, Enjoyed Old Time Jibaro Music

Andres Roldan 86, of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Autumn Aegis Nursing Home, Lorain following a lengthy illness.

He was born November 30, 1923 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. He came to Lorain with other recruits from Puerto Rico in 1948.

Mr. Roldan retired from Lake Terminal Railroad in 1981. He worked there for 25 years. He also worked for New York Central Railroad.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He was also a member of the United Steel workers Union Local 1104 and the Puerto Rican Home both of Lorain. He enjoyed old time Jibaro Music, maintaining his roses and working on his Chevys and Cadillac.

He is Survived by his brother Ceferino Roldan of Lorain, sisters Vilma, Susa, Dorotea Roldan of San Lorenzo, His godson Roberto Del Valle of Lorain, nephews Edwin Roldan of Hawaii and George, Carmelo, Willie and Philip all of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his parents Carmelo Roldan and Claudina Rosario, brothers Pablo, Juan, Placido and Julio Roldan, sisters Vasilia, Anselma and Lola Roldan.

His family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277-8164. Where closing prayers will be Saturday at 8:30 AM then Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, South Lorain. Rev. Fr. William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
