Alejandro Matos Reyes, 91, Loved Playing the Guitar
Alejandro Matos Reyes 91 of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in Kingston of Vermilion nursing home following brief illness.He was born February 27, 1919 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. He has lived in Lorain since 1953.
Mr. Reyes retired from Norfolk & Western Railroad in 1983.
Mr. Reyes was a past member of the Legion of Mary and EI Santo Nombre at Sacred Heart Chapel of Lorain. He was also a member of the Cursillo Movement. He would accompany his wife on Eucharistic visit to nursing homes. He loved playing the guitar and family gatherings.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years Claudina (Rosa) Reyes of Lorain, his sons Carlos (Rosemary) Matos, Angel (Maria) Matos, Louie (Angie) Matos, Victor (Enit) Matos, and Dan (Darlene) Matos all of Lorain, Benny (Madalyn) Matos of Amherst and Jaime (Delena) Matos of Hollandale Beach, Florida, daughters Zoraida (Ramon) Garcia of Lorain, and Carla (Bob) Herbst of Avon, his 19 grandchildren and his 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Felipe & Felicita Matos, his brothers Justin Matos and his sister Daniella Cruz.
His family will receive friends Sunday, July 18, from 4 to 8 PM in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Closing prayers will be Monday at 8:45 in the funeral home, then Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, Lorain. Rev. Fr. William A. Thaden Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
