Frank A. Snezek, 93, Enjoyed Fishing & Woodworking

Frank A. Snezek, 93, of Sheffield Lake, died Sunday July 18, 2010 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain.

He was born December 1, 1916 in Vermilion and had resided in Sheffield Lake most of his life.

Frank served with the US Army as a Private from 1949 to 1952. He worked in maintenance at Standard Pipe Protection in Lorain before retiring. Prior to that he worked at Lake Engineering and Hill & Hubble in Lorain.

Frank was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake and the Lorain County Zipper Club. He was active with the Community Days Festival in Sheffield Lake and helped build floats for the Lorain County Zipper Club to enter in the Community Days and International parades. Frank was named Sheffield Lake Citizen-of-the-Year for his volunteerism in the community.

He coached little league baseball and enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing, woodworking and family.

He is survived by his children Frank A. Snezek Jr of Altoona, PA, Robert A. Snezek (Sue) of Collins, Richard A. Snezek (Barb) of Lorain, Martin J. Snezek (Annette) of Antelope, CA, Harriet Wolfe of Wakeman, Janice Ann Burns (Leon) of Vermilion and Yvonne Schacht of Collins, 38 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and sister Ellie Wasley of Akron. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth G. "Bette" Snezek (nee Rousch) in 1999, son Dennis Snezek, daughter Anne Snezek, parents Martin and Ann Josephine Snezek (nee Helchak), brothers Albert, Pete and Carl Snezek, sister Margaret Yarsa, half sister Ann Dvorscak and half brothers John Dvorscak and Joe Dvorscak.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in the funeral chapel. The Rev. Edward Luca will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
