Louis Mutich, 82, Chief Planner
Louis Mutich 82, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 in the Specialty Hospital of Lorain, Amherst, following a lengthy illness.He was born August 30, 1927 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. He moved to Lorain in the late 1940’s, then to Bay Village in 1978. He lived in Sheffield Lake for 13 years before moving back to Lorain in 2003.
Mr. Mutich retired in 1990 as a chief planner for Akzo-Nobel Salt Mine in Cleveland. He worked there for over 15 years. He also was a foreman in the Diesel Garage of U. S. Steel, Lorain
He served in the Navy during World War II aboard the destroyer Alfred A. Cunningham. He earned the Good Conduct, Pacific Theater, American Theater and the Victory Metals.
Mr. Mutich was a member of Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church, Lorain.
He was inducted in the Lorain USBC Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2003. Among his accomplishments was a 196 lifetime average in the LBA, 200 average or more in 18 different leagues, 212 lifetime high average, 11 straight years high average in Club 55 Senior League, and 3 times named Bowler of the Month. ABC Awards,1 824 series in 1997, 4 300 games in leagues and 1 at Ohio State Seniors Tournament on 11/02/01,4 299 games and one 298 game,5 11 in a row plaques, 2 triplicate awards (1) for 191 and (1) for 226, and 70 plus 700 series (774 Highest).
He will be deeply missed by his son Michael Mutich of Lorain and his daughter Christine Livingston of Berea and his step-son Bernard Fenick of Euclid and Michael Louis Mutich of Lorain and step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years Irene M. Fenick Mutich in 2002, his parents Richard and Tina (nee Radich) Mutich, brothers Michael, Bernard, Charles, Nick and Guy Mutich and sisters Mildred Barron and Ann Mutich.
His family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. Where Malipomen service will be 7:30 P.M. Tuesday evening in the funeral home. Friends my also call Wednesday at 9:30 A.M. until time of his funeral service at 10 A.M. in Saint George Serbian Orthodox Church, East 33rd and Grove Avenue (S.R. 57). Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden, Avon.
