Geraldine C. Janezic, 86, Enjoyed Paiting in Oils

Photo of Geraldine C.  Janezic Geraldine C. "Gerry" Janezic, (nee Sauvey), age 86, of Lorain, died Friday September 3rd. She was born in Lorain on August 1, 1924 and was a long-time resident of the city; Gerry was a graduate of Lorain High as a member of the Class of 1942-B.

A parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, she was employed as a clerk at the former People’s Drug Store in downtown Lorain.

Mrs. Janezic was a member of the Lorain Art League and enjoyed painting in oils. In her free time she also liked watching the Turner Classic Television Network and especially enjoyed musicals featuring Nelson Eddy.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William, by sons Jack (Jill) residing in Sheffield Lake, and Jeffrey (Jeannine) of Wakeman, daughter Joy M. Rico (Danny) of Vermilion Township, her grandson Frank, and step-granddaughters Cassandra and Cayla.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter Renee, by her parents Harold and Margaret (nee Tressel) Sauvey, and by brothers Robert, Donald, and James.

Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel; a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, with the Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the parish officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
