Charles J. Boziecevich, 85, WWII Veteran, Enjoyed Golfing, Bowling and Gardening

Charles J. Boziecevich, 85, of Lorain, died Saturday September 4, 2010 at Olmsted Manor Nursing Home in North Olmsted.

He was born July 31, 1925 in South Amherst and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Charles served with the US Navy during WWII as a Seaman 1st Class aboard the USS Bennett.

He worked at American Crucible in Lorain as a machine operator for 22 years before retiring. Prior to that he worked for Home Dairy in Lorain as a milkman and at Bendix in Elyria.

Charles was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township, the former St. Vitus Catholic Church in Lorain, VFW Post #451 in Lorain, Amherst Eagles Aerie #1442, Croatian Club in Lorain and the Croatian Fraternal Union. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mildred M. Bozicevich (nee Mateskovich), children Richard Bozicevich (Elizabeth) of Elyria, Donald Bozicevich (Christine) of Huron, Karen Thomas (Dennis) of Elyria, grandchildren Elizabeth, Danielle, Ryan, Kelly, Justin, Jarrod and Gabrielle, great grandson Zachary, sister Violet Beam of Amherst and brother Daniel Bozicevich of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Anna Bozicevich (nee Buric), brothers Frank, Joseph, John and Edward Bozicevich and sisters Ann Clarke and Caroline Ross.

A private family funeral mass was held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria Twp. The Rev. James Ols, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.

Arrangements were under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
