Rudy Scheitaurer D.C., 62, Was a Veteran, Enjoyed Golfing

Rudy Scheithauer D.C., 62, of Amherst Township, died Sunday September 5, 2010 at Fairview Hospital in Fairview Park.

He was born September 12, 1947 in Lorain and had resided in Amherst Township for the past 30 years.

Rudy was a graduate of Clearview High School. He served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War as a sergeant and received the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Rudy was a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa and became a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic in the state of Ohio. He practiced in the Lorain and Amherst areas for 37 years.

He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain where he was a member of the Men's Club and helped with the St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was a member of VFW Post #451 in Lorain and was an avid golfer and played in several leagues including the St. Anthony golf league. Rudy was a selfless family man who put others first.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Delores "Buffy" Scheithauer, daughter Amanda Klimko (Ron) of North Ridgeville, son TJ Scheithauer of Williamsburg, Kentucky, sister Mary Ann Kuzak (Frank) of Florida and brothers Robert Scheithauer (Barb) of Elyria Township and Richard Scheithauer of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents A. Rudy and Josephine T. Scheithaeur (nee Cherney).

The family will receive friends Wednesday 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Richard Hudak, pastor, will officiate. Military honors will be conducted after mass by VFW Post #451 and American Legion #30, both of Lorain. Cremation will follow.
