Mary A. Simunovic, 97, Enjoyed Tending to her Garden, Orchard and Yard
Mary A. Simunovic (nee Mikulan) 97, of Elyria Township, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010 in Elyria Memorial Regional Medical Center, Elyria following a lengthy illness.
She was born March 13, 1913 in Drnje, Croatia. She came to Lorain in approximately 1920 and moved to Elyria Township in the mid 1940’s.
Mrs. Simunovic was a member of Saint Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Elyria Township and the former Saint Vitus Croatian Catholic Church in Lorain.
Mary was a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed tending to her garden, orchard and yard. She was also an excellent cook and baker.
She will be so very deeply missed by her husband of 53 years George I. Simunovic of Elyria Township, her daughters Mildred Sabolich of Avon and Mary Lou (Donald) Milovich of Elyria Township, her son Stephen L. (Cynthea) Sabolich of Westlake, her grandchildren Annette Milovich of Elyria Township, Christine (Peter) Lesko of Westlake, Nicholas (Taryn) Milovich of Manhattan, New York, Michelle Sabolich of San Francisco, California, Stephen J. Sabolich of Lakewood and her six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Steve in 1973 and Agnes in 1969 (nee Perosic) Mikulan, her first husband Louis Sabolich in 1953, her brothers Joseph Mikulan in 2003 and Cpl. Steve Mikulan, Jr. USA in 1944, her sister Ann Mikulan at 6 years of age and her granddaughter Karen Milovich in 2002.
A funeral mass was held Friday in Saint Vincent DePaul Catholic Church and burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
