Marguerite L. Nowlin, 88, She Enjoyed Quilting, Knitting and Crocheting
Marguerite L. Nowlin, 88, (nee Thompson) of Lorain died Wednesday evening, September 8, 2010 at her home in the company of her loving family.
Mrs. Nowlin was born in Cleveland on June 30, 1922, the daughter of the late John F. and Anna M. (nee Weber) Thompson. She was a life long resident of Lorain. She was a graduate of Lorain High School in the class of 1940. She was a lifetime member of Christian Temple Disciples of Christ in Lorain, she donated knitting projects to the church mission programs and served as a Deaconess.
Mrs. Nowlin worked as a burner-welder in the seamless mill at US Steel in Lorain for 39 years, retiring in 1983. She was also a licensed cosmetologist. She was a member of the United Steel Workers Union, Local 1104. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, jigsaw and crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Nowlin is survived by her daughters Ruth L. (Richard) Thomas of Vero Beach, FL, Shelley A Nowlin of Sebastian, FL, sons George M. Nowlin, Jr., William "Bill" W. (Michaelle) Nowlin of Lorain, Ben A (Artina) Nowlin of Loxahatchee, FL, grandchildren, Jamie N. Nowlin, Tiaira N. Nowlin, Benjamin T. Nowlin, Michael A Nowlin, Joshua A. Teague, Amber L. Teague, Danielle L. Thomas, Alissa N. Thomas, Brandi N. Nowlin, Bryce A. Nowlin, great grandchildren Rayne P. Nowlin and Calleigh M. Teague, sister Georgia "Marie" Barron of Cleveland, TN and a brother Murray Thompson of Wickliffe and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition her her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband George M. Nowlin, Sr. in 2008, brothers Frank "Junior" Thompson, Carl Opp and a brother in infancy.
Friends are invited to call Monday, September 13, 2010 from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. in the Christian Temple Disciples of Christ Church, 940 W. 5th Street, Lorain, with Rev. Dr. Bradley J. Donahue, officiating. Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township.
