Sammy Slover, 87, Decorated US Army Veteran

Photo of Sammy Slover Sammy Slover, 87, of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at his home following a brief illness.

Mr. Slover was born in Lake City, TN on March 2, 1923, the son of the late Leonard and Siller (nee Hatmaker) Slover.

He was a decorated soldier US Army veteran with service in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, European/African/Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 bronze stars, Good
Conduct Medal and the WW II Victory Medal.

Mr. Slover was a supervisor at the former G B Electric (now known as Thomas Industries) for 34 years, retiring in 1991 following 34 years service.

He is survived by daughters Brenda G. Adkins of Elyria, Debra K (Jeff) Norris of Ashland, Beverly A Slover, Lisa M Slover both of Lorain, Sharon (Robert) Schramm of New London, sons Robert G Slover, Randolph Slover both of Columbus, Andrew R (Cheryl) Slover of Sandusky, 18 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, sister: Kernalee Kesterson of Clark County, TN and a brother Bart Slover of Caryville, TN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Slover in 1990, and two sons Ronnie B. Slover in 2006, Glen E. Slover in 2008, brothers Jim Slover, John Slover, Gene Slover and Dotson Slover, and sister Aline Kesterson.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273.
