John A. Bangas, 74, Enjoyed Spending Time with Family and His Grandchildren
John A. Bangas, 74, of Brownhelm Township, died Saturday September 11, 2010 surrounded by his family at his home after an 11 month illness.He was born September 30, 1935 in Lorain and had resided in Brownhelm Township for the past 10 years.
John retired in 1993 from Norfolk & Southern Railroad where he worked as a brakeman and car repairman.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed all sports and traveling to casinos.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years Lucille (nee Longoria), children Tony (Barb) of Amherst, Brett (Melisa) of Lorain, Ryan (Brandy) of Virginia and Shano Rios (Luis) of Vermilion, grandchildren Brittany Bangas, Anthony Rios, Nicholas Bangas, Adrian Rios and Emma Bangas. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Ruth Bangas (nee Engle), brothers Antonio Bangas, Angelo Bangas, sisters Barbara Bangas, Katherine Bair-Bangas, Jean Laurenti-Farkas and Helen Poprock and granddaughter Kirsten Bangas.
Pastor Troy Thompson of Church on the North Coast will officiate the private family services. Arrangements are being made under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
Charitable contributions can be made to Community Cancer Center or New Life Hospice & Hospice Center of St. Joseph in John’s name.
