Robert M. Rottman, 84, US Navy Veteran, Enjoyed Bowling and was an Avid Golfer
Robert M. Rottman, age 84 of Lorain, died Saturday September 11, 2010 in Community Health Partners Hospital.He was born September 7, 1926 in Lorain, and remained a lifelong resident.
Mr. Rottman was the head custodian at Admiral King High School when he retired in 1989 after 30 years of service.
He belonged to St. Anthony of Padua church in Lorain. He was a WW2 Navy veteran and participated in the Honor Flight in 2008 to visit the WW2 Memorial in Washington DC.
He was an avid golfer and recorded a hole in one while 80 years old at Willow Creek Golf Course. He also enjoyed bowling and had been a member of the Over The Hill Gang, and Senior Fellowship bowling leagues.
Mr. Rottman was also active in AA for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Frances (nee Resek). A son Douglas (Cheryl) Rottman of Corpus Christi, TX, daughters Barbara (Michael) Rodak of LaGrange, Susan (Patrick) O'Connor of Kent, and Amy Rottman of Lorain, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Agnes Rottman, a grandson Jason Rodak, a step-granddaughter Lisa, and a sister Freda Smith.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Wednesday beginning with prayers at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by 10 a.m. Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Fr. Richard Hudak will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 451 and American Legion Post 30.
