Barbara R. Nichols, 63, Enjoyed Travelling, Cooking and Singing

Barbara R. Nichols, age 63, passed away on September 15, 2010, at her home in Sheffield Village, Ohio, following a long illness. She was born May 20, 1947, in Lorain, Ohio, and remained a lifetime resident of Lorain County.

Barb was a 1965 graduate of Admiral King High School. She worked for 40 years in the consumer credit industry and the last 23 years as loan supervisor for the School Employees Lorain County Credit Union, Inc., where she truly enjoyed her co-workers and serving the credit union’s members. She was a parishioner of the former St. Vitus Croatian Catholic Church in Lorain.

Barb will be remembered for her fun loving spirit and positive attitude, as well as her strength and courage. She was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, and friend to many. She was an excellent seamstress, even having made her own wedding dress. Barb enjoyed traveling, cooking, singing, good music, and spending time with family and friends.

She was lovingly cared for at home by her devoted husband of 38 years, Christopher, who survives her. She is also survived by her mother, Anna Haller of Lorain; brother, Matthew and sister-in-law Mary Ann Haller of Vermilion; her nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her father, Mathew Haller and infant sister, Ruth Haller.

A memorial gathering will be held Monday, September 20, 2010 in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway, Lorain, from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. A chapel service will be conducted at 6 p.m. with Deacon John Slatcoff representing St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township presiding; family reflections will follow the service. Committal services will be held at the graveside at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2010, in Calvary Cemetery 555 North Ridge Rd., Lorain. Those attending are requested to gather along the main entry drive at 10:45 a.m.
