Mary Banas, 101, Enjoyed Spending Time with Family and Crocheting
Mary Banas (nee Linko), 101, of Lorain, died Saturday October 2, 2010 at Rae-Ann Suburban Nursing Home in Westlake.She was born June 4, 1909 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Mary was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, spending time with her family and was a hard-working meticulous housekeeper.
She is survived by her children Andrew of Hixon, TN, Edward of Oakland, FL and Beverly Zahorec of Lorain, 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and brother John Hodson of Spring Hill, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1962, sons John, Jr. in 1973 and Richard in 2000, daughter Mary Jane in 2001, parents Michael and Mary (nee Himich) Linko, and brothers George and Michael Linko.
The family will receive friends Thursday 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Please meet at church. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
