Phyllis M. Klekota Blazina, 65, Enjoyed Music, Needlework and Cooking
Phyllis M. Klekota Blazina passed away peacefully in her Corpus Christi, Texas home on Thursday October 14th, 2010.
Phyllis was born to Michael J. and Wanda (nee Klekota) Blazina on September 5, 1945. They brought her home to 1214 West 17th Street in Lorain, Ohio where she grew up surrounded by her family, her church, friends, neighbors, and music. Everyone loved her; she remained a loving woman throughout her entire life.
Phyllis attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and Parochial School in Lorain where she was taught by nuns and priests and her Baltimore Catechism to know, to love, and to serve God and to be happy with Him in Heaven, and she did just that all her life. She also attended Powers Elementary School in Amherst and worked for the Murray Ridge Workshop in Elyria Township. Phyllis relocated to Corpus Christi. Texas in 1989 to be with her sister, Patty, and her family.
She was very active there in the pro-life movement where she marched in pro-life assemblies holding her banner high for unborn children.
In her free time she enjoyed music, needlework, maintaining a personal journal, and cooking. Phyllis was a born entertainer. During visits to Las Vegas, she met many celebrities and once entertained the audience between shows by imitating Diana Ross. She also sang on stage at the Imperial Palace with Graham Patrick who starred as Elvis Presley.
Her sister Patricia Blazina Callahan Forrest of Corpus Christi survives her. Her parents preceded her in death along with her brother Donald Blazina.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A rosary service will be recited by the Nativity BVM Altar & Rosary Society at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Avenue with the Reverend Robert Glepko, Pastor of the parish presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions to the Lorain County Pro-Life Movement.
Yes, Phyllis has gone to her Heavenly Home to be with the Heavenly Family, her mother, father, and birth family, but she will always be in our hearts and we in hers. How good God was to let us have her for these 65 years. Thank you, Jesus.
