Kathleen L. Miller, 90, Enjoyed Fishing and Playing Music
Kathleen L. Miller, 90, (nee McCraken) of Elyria died early Friday morning, October 15, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Elyria following a long illness.
Mrs. Miller was born in Lorain on December 20, 1919, the daughter of the late Howard R and Olive B (nee Talcott) McCraken. She was a 1937 graduate of Lorain High School and then graduated from the Lorain Business College. She moved to Elyria 64 years ago. She was a homemaker.
She was a lifetime member of both the Order of Eastern Star, Queen City Chapter # 66 and The White Shrine. She was also a member of the Grand Cross For Rainbow Girls.
She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had taught Sunday School and Bible School.
She enjoyed fishing and playing music. She played the piano, saxophone and organ. She especially enjoyed gardening and maintained a half acre garden until just two years ago.
Mrs. Miller is survived by a daughter Patsy A Mendlik of Elyria, a son Sterling A Miller of Lorain, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling L. Miller in 1997, her daughter Kathy Lee in 2008 and a brother Howard McCraken.
Friends may call on Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. The Eastern Star Queen City Chapter will hold a memorial service on Sunday at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be on Monday, October 18, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Jimmie Madsen, co-pastor of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Ridge Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst Township, OH.
