John Brian DeCarlo, 53, Enjoyed Collecting and Repairing Antiques and Classic Cars

He was born in Lorain on September 30, 1957 and remained a life-long resident of Lorain County. Brian was a graduate of Clearview High School and a member of the Clipper varsity football team; he graduated with the Class of 1975 and later attended classes at Lorain County Community College.
He served in the United States Navy where he fulfilled duty assignments aboard the U.S.S. Raleigh berthed in Norfolk, Virginia.
Mr. DeCarlo was the founder and owner of Lorain County Cab Company and was a member of the Elyria Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and was proud of more than 28 years of sobriety.
In his free time he enjoyed collecting and repairing antique and classic automobiles as well as traveling on gambling junkets.
Survivors include his sisters Jeannie Rose of Sheffield Township and Mary Jane Dorr of Castle Rock, Colorado, long-time friend Betty Ogle of Elyria, nieces Ashley and Amber Dorr, an uncle, several aunts, and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Peggy (nee Danhart) DeCarlo and by his brother-in-law Leonard Rose.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue. Lorain. Private family services will be conducted with the Reverend Harry N. Croft, Pastor of Wheeling Marwin Nazarene Church presiding.
