Eugene A. "Gene" Rebman, 79, Enjoyed the Outdoors, Boating and Fishing
He was born in Lorain on January 9, 1931 to the late John and Margaret (nee Zettel) Rebman and was a life-long resident of Lorain. Gene attended Lorain High School and went on to become a union electrician employed by Dunfee Electric for many years. He was a fifty-eight year member of Local #129 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
As a young boy he delivered groceries for the Rebman Market formerly located on Grove Avenue and owned and operated by his mother. He was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lorain.
Gene formerly raised horses on the family-owned Baby Blue Farms and was active with both the Bit-In-Spur and Elyria Wranglers chapters of Lorain County 4-H. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid boater, and fisherman. Additional interests included water skiing, working with his hands, and following all Clearview Athletic programs.
He leaves his loving wife of fifty-nine years Dorothy (nee Dunfee), sons Kenneth (Dianna) and Gene (Leslie) Rebman, daughters Sandra (James) Rohner and Tammy (John) Szalay, along with ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, his brother Arthur, and many friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rebman was preceded in death by a brother John, and by sisters Lena Mikulan, Margaret Hospodar, and Kathleen Boey.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday November 9th at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, 1897 East 30th Street, in Lorain with the Reverend Wayne DeMarco presiding. Those planning to attend the services are requested to gather directly at the church.
