Ray T. Edleman, 96, US Army Veteran, Enjoyed Watching the Buckeyes and Activities with his Family

Photo of Ray T. Edleman Ray T. Edleman, age 96 of Lorain, died Saturday Nov. 13, 2010 in Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake after a lengthy illness.

He was born May 2, 1914 in Lorain, and was a lifelong resident.

Mr. Edleman worked as a production control supervisor for Thew Shovel, retiring in 1976 after 40 years.

He was a WW2 Army infantry veteran, and served in France and Germany.

Mr. Edleman belongs to Mary Mother of God Church in Lorain, and belonged to the former St. Joseph Church.

He also belongs to St. Joseph Golden Agers in Amherst.

An avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing softball and basketball in his youth, and lately he enjoyed watching sports, especially the Buckeyes.

Mr. Edleman always enjoyed his family activities.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years Vanita (nee Kramer), sons Roger (Nadine) Edleman of Elyria, Drew (Alexis) Edleman of North Ridgeville, daughters Lynnae (Lee) Jaykell of San Diego, and Cheryl (Jack) Koch of Avon Lake. He has eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Joyce, his parents Edward and Blanche Edleman, brothers Edward, Floyd, Clyde, and Richard Edleman, sisters Florence Wonderly, Ethel McBride, Viola Brandt, and Virginia Urban.

Friends may call Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. A Rosary service will take place at 3 p.m.

Funeral services will be Thursday beginning with prayers at 9 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by 9:30 a.m. Mass at Mary Mother of God Church. Fr. Daniel Divis will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 451 and American Legion Post 30.
