Cecilia P. Sokol, 86, Enjoyed Reading, Bingo, and was an Avid Cleveland Sports Fan

She was born July 13, 1924 in Amherst and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Cecilia graduated from Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst. She worked at the Lorain County Community Action Agency with the Meals-on-Wheels program processing applications and visiting applicants at their home as a follow up to delivery service. She retired in 2003 after working over 20 years with LCCAA.

Cecilia was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain where she sang in the church choir many years ago. She enjoyed reading, playing bingo, crossword puzzles and was an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers fan.

She is survived by her children Carol Sokol and Dash Sokol (Kathy), both of Lorain and Dave Sokol of Amherst, grandchildren Kylie, Kerri, Dash, Jennifer and David Sokol and brother James Drozdowski of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dash Sokol, sisters Martha Skura, Frances Syrowski, Jennie Osyk and Viola Stachelski and brothers Joseph, Adam, Michael and Edward Drozdowski.

The family will receive friends Sunday 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Prayer services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain. The Rev. Curtis L. Kondik will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
