Elizabeth ''Betty'' Phillips, 82, Enjoyed Cooking and Baking
Elizabeth "Betty" Phillips (nee Abrahamowicz), 82, of Lorain, died Tuesday November 23, 2010 at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland after a brief illness.She was born November 12, 1928 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Betty worked as a salesperson at Ted Jacobs in Lorain and as an assembler at Nelson Stud Welding in Lorain.
She was a member of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain and the Busy Martha Guild at the church. She helped to organize fundraisers for the church.
Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years Sid Phillips, children Stanley Phillips of Avon Lake and Kathy Bidefeld (Branko) of Newnan, Georgia, grandchildren Seth Ford (Jessica) of Marietta, GA and Erin Gilley (Blake) of Alpharetta, GA, stepgrandchildren David, Matthew and Steven Bidefeld, all of Australia.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Dawn Marie Phillips, parents Peter and Maria Abrahamowicz (nee Drisczur), sisters Estelle Kotradi and Anne Abrahamowicz and brothers Joseph, Walter, Henry and John Abrahamowicz.
Private family funeral services were held. The Rev. Peter Toth, pastor of Hungarian Reformed United Church of Christ in Lorain, officiated. Burial was in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
