Leila Mae "Lee" Hinkle Heilman-Davis, 78, Enjoyed Cleveland Sports, Collecting Antiques and Spending Time with Her Grandchildren
Leila Mae "Lee" Hinkle Heilman-Davis, 78, of Lorain, died unexpectedly on Sunday December 5, 2010 at her home.
She was born August 28, 1932 in Elyria and had been a lifelong Lorain/Elyria area resident.
Lee worked at Heinen's Supermarket in Rocky River in the meat department, deli and seafood department before retiring. Later she worked at Bennett Fish in Lorain.
Lee was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain and the Moose Lodge in Lorain. She was an active member of the VFW Post #451 Ladies Auxiliary in Lorain having served several terms as president.
Lee was a huge Cleveland sports fan, enjoyed collecting antiques and amethyst glass, helped rescue many stray cats and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her companion of 25 years George Evanoff of Lorain and his children and grandchildren, her children Robert Heilman, Jr of Elyria, Christopher Heilman of Florida, Vicki Potemry (Kenneth), Michael Heilman, Gayleene Baldwin-Upton (Tim) and Scott "Ttocs" Heilman (Phyllis), all of Lorain, grandchildren Karleigh Potemry, Ashlee Silva, Patrick Heilman, Alexzander Baldwin and Laura, brother Theodore Hinkle (Ann) of North Ridgeville and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Heilman in 1991, husband Hugh Davis in 1986, father Frank Hinkle, mother Mildred Hinkle and sister Judith Ann O'Hara.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. (please meet at the church). The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
