Lois L. Goldyn, 85, Enjoyed Reading & Playing Cards

Photo of Lois L. Goldyn Lois L. Goldyn (nee Weiss), 85, of Lorain, died Saturday December 11, 2010 at Wesleyan Village in Elyria.

She was born November 15, 1925 in Cleveland and had resided in Lorain for the past 50 years.

Lois worked as a secretary at Avon Lake City Hall for 11 years before retiring in 1991. She had also worked for Lorain City Schools as a lunch-room monitor, tutored students and was involved with the student body on multiple levels.

Lois was a past member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Avon Lake and the church ladies guild and a member of St. John Catholic Church in Lorain where she was very active in many church functions.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards and keeping in touch with her family and friends.

She is survived by her children James (Helen) Goldyn of North Ridgeville, Judy (Robert) Drop of Lorain, Marianne Goldyn of Mogadore, Kathleen (William) George of Chester, VA and Debra (Andy) Anderson of Virginia Beach, VA, grandchildren Christine Smith, Brian Drop, Anthony Goldyn, Julie Goldyn, Jennifer Cruise, Justin George and Jay George and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony in 2005, parents Herman and Elsie Weiss (nee Roth) and brother Herman L. Weiss, Jr.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11:30 am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Stephen Kaminski, chaplain of Mt. Carmel Medical Center and the Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor of the Catholic Church of St. Peter, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
