Jennie M. Carrier, 91, Enjoyed Ballroom Dancing with Her Late Husband and the Music of Lawrence Welk

Photo of Jennie M. Carrier Jennie M. Carrier, (nee Amato), age 91, of Lorain, died unexpectedly at Mercy Regional Medical Center on Monday December 13, 2010.

She was born in Lorain on June 24, 1919 and had been a life-long resident of the city; Jennie was a graduate of Lorain High School.

Prior to her marriage, she was employed as a cashier for the Kroger Company. She was a parishioner of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain as well as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sons of Italy. In her free time she enjoyed ballroom dancing with her late husband, as well as listening to the music of Lawrence Welk.

Survivors include daughters Mary Jane Broglio (Robert) of Lorain and Paulette Schneider (Ed) of Euclid, son James R. Carrier of Avon Lake, granddaughters Kristie and Amy Broglio, and sister Louise Hunker of Amherst.

She was preceded in death by her husband James F. Carrier in 2002, by her parents Ralph and Pauline Amato, by brothers Dominic, Peter, and Rudy, and by sisters Violet Petruzzi, and Madeline Citro.

Friends may call Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Friday beginning with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain with the Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the parish presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
