Bertha Marie Romans, 71, Enjoyed Bowling and Spending Time in Her Cabin

Photo of Bertha Marie Romans Bertha Marie Romans (nee Brooks), 71, of Vermilion, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph after a lengthy illness.

Born November 11, 1939 in Palmer, PA she had been a Vermilion resident for the past 26 years.

Bertha worked for the Motel Plaza, Vermilion where she served as the manager, and also was a nurse's aid for Ohio Extended Care, Lorain.

She was a member of St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church, Vermilion and the Madeleine Chapter #204 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed bowling and spending time at her cabin in Pennsylvania.

Survivors include her 4 daughters, Deborah (Terry) Kendron of Merritt Island, FL, Cathy (LaMar) Woods of Huron, Kimberly Montgomery of Vermilion, and Cindy (Doug) Keith of Vermilion; 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Hannah Stance of Chicago, Harriet Bowling of PA, and Joann Keyser of PA; a brother, Harry Brooks of PA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Romans, in 1980, and her parents, Fred and Harriet (nee Jobes) Brooks.

Friends may call Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 from 6 p.m - 9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street Vermilion Ohio. Order of the Eastern Star services will be held at 6 p.m., followed by a funeral service, Reverend Dr. Karl Fry, will officiate.

The family suggests memorial contributions to New Life Hospice of St. Joseph 5255 N. Abbe Road Elyria, OH 44035.
