Rose Livingston, 91, Attended Mary Mother of God Catholic Church and Was an Active Volunteer

Photo of Rose Livingston Rose Livingston (nee DelMonico), 91, of Lorain, died unexpectedly on Thursday December 23, 2010 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

She was born December 18, 1919 in Sulmona, Italy and had resided in Lorain since the age of nine.

Rose graduated from the Lorain High School class of 1940B. She worked for Tony's Meats in Lorain and then in the meat department at Fazio's Supermarket retiring after 30 years.

Rose was a member of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Lorain and the Abruzzi Club. She was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 Ladies Auxiliary where she held numerous offices, attended many state conventions and regularly visited the VA Hospitals.

Rose was an active volunteer with the Salvation Army, helped cook at the 8th St. Food Pantry and organized bingo at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home. As many as five nights a week she was volunteering in some capacity.

She is survived by her children Diane Pauley (Robert) of Mentor, Nancy Chase (Tim) of Lakeland, Florida, Michael Livingston of Lorain, James Livingston (Susan) of Cleveland and Jon Livingston (Yong) of Lacey, Washington, grandchildren Charissa Bly (David), Ariann Richner (Kevin), Rachel Livingston (fiancé John), Yvonne Jones (Jonathan), Amy Livingston, Scott Livingston and Stephanie Skidmore, 4 great granddaughters, 1 great grandson and sister-in-law Rose DelMonico of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Austin Livingston in 1988, sister Linda Ofandiski and brothers Guido, Alfredo and Frank DelMonico.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 2 p.m. - 4 p.m., 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, 310 8th St., Lorain. The Rev. James Becherer will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
