Pasquale ''Pat'' Ziroli, 64, Teacher & Coach

Photo of Pasquale ''Pat'' Ziroli Pasquale "Pat" Ziroli, 64, of Lorain, was called to rest by God on Wednesday December 29, 2010 at the Cleveland Clinic.

He was born July 31, 1946 in Montenero Val Cocchiara, Italy and had resided in Lorain most of his life.

Pat attended Castel Di Sangro Elementary School in Italy, graduated from Admiral King High School in Lorain in 1965 and attended Bowling Green State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education majoring in English and Latin in 1969.

Pat was a teacher in the Lorain School system where he taught English at Hawthorne-Boone Junior High School, Southview High School and Admiral King High School. He coached basketball at Hawthorne, soccer at Admiral King and his son's Lorain Youth Baseball team. Pat also was an umpire at local baseball games and referee for junior high and high school basketball.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, the Montenero Society and the Lorain Education Association.

Pat was an avid Cleveland sports fan and international soccer fan rooting for the ACF Fiorentina team. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, playing golf, casino trips and playing cards with his friends on Thursday nights.

Pat was very proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed traveling to Italy. He was a very private man who was a loving husband, father and family man.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Elizabeth H. Ziroli (nee Doraski), son Anthony A. Ziroli of Lorain, sister Bice (Sam) Ortenzi of Lorain and their children David (Angela) Ortenzi, Robert Ortenzi and Gina (Robert) Paukst, brother-in-law/sister-in-law Ronald & Gloria Mantini of Lorain and their children Ronald (Anna) Mantini, Pat's godson Kenneth (Jessica) Mantini and Christina Mantini, sister-in-law Jane Kokolari and her children Katrina, Juliana and Alexandra Kokolari and aunt Zia Elia Riegel and her sons. He was preceded in death by his parents Adelfo and Filomena Ziroli (nee Colella), an infant brother Pasquale Ziroli and uncle Donald Riegel.

The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4, 6-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 10:00 am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
