George R. Gedeon, 74, Former Coach of Football and Baseball
George R. Gedeon, age 74 of North Ridgeville, passed away Friday December 31, 2010 at EMH Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.He was born in Cleveland, and had resided in North Ridgeville the past 41 years.
Mr. Gedeon was a member of St. Peter Church, the Teamsters Union Local 407, the Teamsters Retiree's # 1, and was a social member of VFW Post 9871.
He served in the US Navy in 1956 and 1957.
He retired in 1994 from ANR Truck Lines, Cleveland after 32 years as a truck driver.
Mr. Gedeon well known with local sports, for he coached Pee Wee Football and Hot Stove Baseball, and was assistant coach for Freshman and Varsity Ranger Football for North Ridgeville City School along with JV and Head Coach of Varsity Baseball for 3 years.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Norma J. (nee Harmon) sons Mark of Vermilion and George III (Heather) of Mobile, AL, daughter, Robin (Dale) Mayda of Elyria, six grandchildren, sister, Carol Gedeon of Westlake, brothers, James of Daytona Beach and John of North Olmsted.
He was preceded in death by his Parents George R. Sr., and Margaret (nee Schueger) Gedeon, and one brother, Scott.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Bob Franco will officiate.
Interment will follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, where VFW Post 9871, North Ridgeville will conduct full military honors.
