George F. Pappas, 82, Enjoyed Woodworking & Ball Games

George F. Pappas, 82 of Lorain passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a long illness.

Mr. Pappas was born in Lorain on September 27, 1928, the son of the late Michael and Mary Pappas. He was a lifelong resident of Lorain.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was retired mail carrier working out of the Lorain Post Office for 30 years.

Mr. Pappas enjoyed woodworking and watching ball games.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Evelyn Pappas, daughters Patricia A (Darrell) Hopps of Senecaville, Pamela J (Tim) Green of Lorain, sons Mark A (Jennifer) Pappas of Lorain, Jeffrey L (Alison) Pappas of Westlake, grandchildren, Jennifer Green, Darrell Hopps, Jamie Hopps, Nora Pappas, Maya Pappas and great grandchildren: Dezerae Garcia, Cody Green, and Isaiah (Lamar).

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Smarsh, and a brother Michael Pappas.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 2-5 pm in the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Funeral Services will be on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Matt Darrin, officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
