Amelia ''Molly'' Bratton, 81, Enjoyed Cooking & Knitting

Photo of Amelia ''Molly'' Bratton Amelia "Molly" Bratton (nee Letizia), 81, of Lorain, died Saturday January 8, 2011 at EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria after a lengthy illness.

She was born January 29, 1929 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Molly graduated from Lorain High School in 1947. She worked in Data Processing at US Steel in Lorain, Bendix in Elyria, Parker-Hannifan in Elyria and other local companies.

Molly was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, an active member of the Italian-American Veterans Post #1 Ladies Auxiliary in Lorain where she participated in state and national conventions, all memorial service activities and the regular monthly spaghetti dinner.

In her younger years, Molly was an avid bowler competing in various leagues and tournaments. She garnered numerous awards and trophies as well as recording many 600 series prior to retiring from competition.

Molly was an excellent dancer throughout her life especially dancing the "Jitterbug". She had won many dance contests over the years with her dance partners.

She enjoyed cooking and knitting and crocheting items for her family and friends.

She is survived by her children Angelo Ciu (Rita) of Lorain, Brian Bratton (Polly) of Wellington and Michele Madera (Gus) of Lorain, grandchildren Michael Ciu (Marie), Morgan Madera, Olivia Madera and Leah Bratton, great grandchildren Jackson, Parker and Michaela Ciu and sisters Mary Yager of Lorain, Mickey Foos of Sandusky and Joan Arroyo of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her first husband Angelo Ciu, second husband Harry P. Bratton, father Anthony Letizia, mother Josephine Letizia-Spartano (nee Ventrone), stepfather Clemente Spartano, brother James Letizia and sisters Ann Beko and Josephine Letizia.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain and on Wednesday from 9:30 am until the time of the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. (Please meet at the church). The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
