Maria Cruzado, 90, Enjoyed Cooking for her Family, Gardening, Bingo and Her Church

Photo of Maria Cruzado Maria Cruzado (nee Batista), was peacefully called home on January 30, 2011.

Mrs. Cruzado was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico on February 20, 1920; she came to Lorain in 1951.

Maria was the devoted and loving mother to nine children. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel and the Ladies Altar and Rosary Society. She spent many years in the kitchen at Sacred Heart as a member of the Damas, cooking for church functions and fund-raising events. Mrs. Cruzado enjoyed cooking for the family, gardening, bingo, and her church.

She is survived by her daughters Gloria (Michael) Barash, Alery Turcus, Jacqueline Rentas and Susan (James) Burge, by her sons Joaquin (Bibiana) Cruzado, Jr., Roberto (Zoraida) Cruzado, and Harry Cruzado, along with sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Joaquin Cruzado, Sr. by her son Raymond Cruzado, by her daughter Maria Torres, along with two sons in infancy, her parents Francisco and Tomasa (nee Guerrero) Batista, three brothers, and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for the family in Sacred Heart Chapel with the Reverend William Thaden, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

The family encourages contributions in Maria's memory to Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave., Lorain, OH 44055.
