Steve Krakomperger, 83, Pump Room Operator

He was born January 11, 1928 in Szabolcs-Szatmar Megye Hungary and immigrated to the United States from Hungary in 1949. He lived in New Jersey and Buffalo, New York before moving to Sheffield Lake in 1957.
Steve worked at the Ford Assembly Plant in Avon Lake as a Pump Room Operator for 34 years retiring in 1991.
He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, UAW Local #2000 and the William Penn Association. He enjoyed following current events, sports, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren and traveling to Hungary.
He is survived by his children Nancy K. Kurianowicz of North Ridgeville, Janet M. Hetrick (Ken) of Elyria and Steven A. Krakomperger (Tammie) of Wellington, grandchildren Michael and Wendy Kurianowicz, Christian Karter, Cassy, Bradley and Emily Hetrick, Jenna and Jaclyn Krakomperger and Eric and Katelynn Smith, great grandchildren Arianna, Mackenzie and Emmah Kurianowicz and sisters Marika Berecz, Kato Svaner and Margo Batta, all of Hungary. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Krakomperger (nee Balla) in 2008, parents Christian and Magdolna Krakomperger (nee Frank), sisters Magda Angel, Erszi Frank and Annus Krakomperger in infancy and brothers Feri and Mihaly Krakomperger.
The family will receive friends Friday 2-4, 7-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:00 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Richard Hudak, pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
