D V ''Pa Paw'' Polly, 83, Enjoyed Telling Stories of the Old Days to his Grandchildren
He was born in Bottomfork, Kentucky and had been a resident of Lorain since 1952.
D V served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He worked as a millwright for USS Kobe in Lorain, retiring in 1985, after 35 years.
He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church in Amherst and United Steel Workers Union Local 1104.
He enjoyed vegetable gardening and telling stories of the old days to his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of whom he married February 9, 1956, Melda (nee Adams); daughters, Debra (Keith) Polly-Stawicki of Elyria, Theresa Polly of Lorain; sons, Dan Polly of Lorain, Mitchel (Bonnie) Polly of LaGrange; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ardath (Joseph) Profitt of Sullivan, Beth Nesbitt of Georgia; brother, Dean (Dorann) Polly of Richmond, Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Alice Polly; sisters, Ann Bodnar, Goldie Collins, Alice Polly, Lulu Polly, Stella Polly, Rosie Short, Leona Webb; brothers, John Henry Polly, Nat Polly, Edward Polly, Ezra Polly and grandson, Seth Polly in 2008.
Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the David Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 AM in the funeral home. Rev. Bill Fraley, pastor of Enterprise Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. VFW Post 9871 will conduct full military honors.
