Carmen P. Soto, 72, Enjoyed Music, Dancing and Spending Time with Her Grand and Great Grandchildren

Photo of Carmen P. Soto Carmen P. Soto (née Martinez) 72 of Lorain passed away Wednesday February 16, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic following a lengthy illness.

She was born December 7, 1938 in Malakoff, Texas. She came to Lorain in the early in 1940's.

Mrs. Soto retired in 2005 as an Librarian Aide at Southview High School, Lorain . She also worked at other Lorain City School libraries in Lincoln, Lowell and Garfield Schools.

She was a member of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, Lorain, where she served as a Lector. She was also a member of the Guadalupe Society, Al-Anon, NEA Lorain City Schools, and was a member of the Mexican folk dancing group. She volunteered at Saint Joseph Homeless Shelter, Lorain. Carmen enjoyed music and dancing. She loved to spend time with her grand and great grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her husband of 53 years Felix C. Soto of Lorain; sons Felix Soto, Jr. of Milan, Michigan and Mayo Soto of Lorain; daughters Consuelo "Connie" (the late Armando) Lopez, Veronica Maldonado and Bonnie Soto all of Lorain and Anna Cleta (William) Heider of Amherst; brother Esteban (Sherry) Martinez of Lacey, Washington; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brother Cirilo Martinez, Avon Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents Cirilo and Paula (née Palacios) Martinez; brother Cirilo Martinez and a sister Martha Martinez.

Her family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. Where closing prayers will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, then Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Parish, Homewood Drive and Grove Avenue (Route 57) in Lorain. Rev. Father John C. Retar, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
