Rudolph A. "Rudy" Pavlik, 98, Avid Baseball Fan, Enjoyed Bowling and Playing Golf

Rudolph A. "Rudy" Pavlik, 98, of Lorain and formerly of Canton, passed away Friday February 18, 2011 at his home.

He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 17, 1912 and was a long-time resident of Stark County, Ohio and attended Canton McKinley High School.

Rudy was formerly employed by both the Timken Company and Republic Steel Corporation while residing in Canton. After re-locating to Lorain in 1953, he worked for Lorain Aluminum Manufacturing, American Shipbuilding Company and Local #33 of the Sheet Metal Workers Union retiring in 1982.

Rudy was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and Lorain Senior Fellowship. He was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed bowling and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife of 72 years Caroline Pavlik (nee Regiec), sons Rudy Pavlik (Patti) of Sanford, Florida and Michael Pavlik (RJ) of Sun Lakes, Arizona, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph and Elizabeth Pavlik (nee Sluka), brothers Elmer, Ted and Edward Pavlick and step-sister Betty Tlanda.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Robert Glepko, pastor, of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
