David Allen Hugh Sr., 65, US Army Veteran, Enjoyed Boating, Fishing, Gardening and Being with Friends

Photo of David Allen Hugh Sr. David Allen Huhn Sr., age 65 of Lorain, died Friday February 19, 2011 at Wade Park VA Medical Center in Cleveland after 15 month battle with cancer.

He was born November 22, 1945 in Sandusky, Ohio and resided in Lorain most of his life. David was a veteran of the United States Army and received the Purple Heart and Bonze Star Medal for Heroism in Vietnam. After returning from service, he worked at US Steel and Ford Motor Company. After leaving industrial manufacturing, he ventured into the construction business and later he became owner of Lorain Transmission.

David enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening, and hanging out at home with friends. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20.

David is greatly missed and survived by his son David Allen Huhn Jr. of Lorain, daughters Michelle Kitchen and Kristine Petty both of California, grandchildren Amber and Bradley Huhn of Lorain, Taylor, Jonathan, Olivia, Emma and Reagan Pettyof California, and a great-granddaughter Jenna Huhn, sisters Dorie Camp, Sue Hall, Maryanne Boardwine, and Linda Fantauzzi, all of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his father William Huhn, mother Helen Temple, sister Ginny Tressel, and brother Alvin Huhn.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Reichlin Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Bradley J. Donahue officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain, with military honors conducted by the D.A.V. Louis Paul Proy chapter 20.
