Jeanne E. Brown, 92, Enjoyed All Sports, Flowers and Her Pet Dogs and Cats

She was born November 21, 1918 in Elyria and had been a lifelong Elyria/Lorain resident.
Jeanne graduated from Elyria High School in 1937 and St. Vincent Charity Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland in 1940. She worked as a registered nurse for 6 years.
Jeanne was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain, the church Marian Guild and the St. Vincent Charity Hospital Alumni Association. She volunteered at the church and with the Marian Guild blood drive for the Lorain County Blood Bank.
Jeanne was an avid baseball fan, enjoyed all sports, enjoyed playing tennis and golf, yard work, flowers, reading, crossword puzzles and her pet dogs and cats.
She is survived by her children John E. "Jack" Brown (Joan) of Lorain, Kathleen Shepherd (Fred) of Elyria, Linda Schweinberg (Paul) of Amherst, Laurie Steiner (Bruce) of South Amherst and Jeanne Plato of Lorain, 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, brothers Hugh McCray (Shirley) and Noel McCray (Elenor), all of Kentucky, sister-in-law Ruth Gascoigne of Lorain and long-time friend Phyllis King of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Jack C. Brown in 2005, infant son Jack C. Brown, grandson Jack Brown in 2010, father Hugh N. McCray, mother Reva McCray-Hange (nee Whitney) and brother William Whitney McCray.
The family will receive friends Thursday 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Richard Hudak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
