Michael Boiwka, 89, Gifted in numerous aspects of home construction and mechanics.

He was born October 2, 1921 in Komancha, Ukraine. He lived in Klumbach, Germany for 10 years before immigrating to Lake Providence, Louisiana, and eventually moved to Lorain in 1950.
Mr. Boiwka retired as an inspector in the pipe mill of U. S. Steel Lorain Works after 30 years of employment.
He served many years as financial secretary of Saint Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Ukrainian National Home and the Ukrainian National Association in Lorain, Ohio.
Mr. Boiwka was also a member of the Ukrainian Self Reliance Credit Union, the Presidential Taskforce of the Republican Party and the United Steel Workers Union - local 1104, Lorain. He enjoyed conversing about world history/politics and working around his home and garden. He was gifted in numerous aspects of home construction and mechanics.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 65 years Ksenia (Née Suchok) Boiwka of Sheffield Village; sons Stephan (Beverly) Boiwka of Brownhelm Township and Roman (Judy) of Amherst; grandchildren Michael, Larissa, Alex and Ellesse.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wasyl and Theodozia (née Popowich) Boiwka; brothers Ivan, Stefan, Ilko, Wasyl and Theodore and a sister Anna.
His family will receive friends Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. Where Parastas service will be Monday evening at 6:30 P.M.. His funeral service will be Tuesday at 12:00 at the funeral home. Very Rev. Father John Nakonachny, pastor of Saint Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma will officiate. Burial will follow at the Brownhelm Township Cemetery.
