Theresa D. Nocjar, 89, Member of the Girl's Harmony Club and Enjoyed Spending Time with Her Family

Photo of Theresa D. Nocjar Theresa D. Nocjar, (nee Swiderski), age 89, of Lorain, passed away Monday February 28th at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Lorain on June 21, 1921 and remained a life-long resident of the city. Theresa was a graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1939-B. She later attended Lorain Business College.

She was formerly employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Superintendent of the Lorain Public School System; Theresa retired from that position in 1977 following fifteen years of service with the school district.

Mrs. Nocjar was a life parishioner of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and was also a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and Ladies Guild there. She was currently attending the Catholic Church of St. Peter.

She was a member of the Girl's Harmony Club and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family.

She is survived by her son David E. (Christine) Nocjar of Vermilion, daughter Cynthia Nocjar of Lorain, grandchildren Aaron (Bianca) Nocjar and Jonathan Nocjar, by great grandchildren Gray and Siena Nocjar, and by her sister Virginia Zaleski of Vermilion.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward J. Nocjar in 1973, by her parents Paul and Stella (nee Witkowski) Swiderski, by her brother Edward, and by sisters Jay Zelina, Marie Lesner, Joan Moss, and Angela Novak.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. A rosary service will be conducted by members of the St. Stanislaus Altar & Rosary Society at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday beginning at 9 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. in the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Reverend Craig Hovanec, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Theresa would have encouraged memorial contributions to the Capital Campaign Fund at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, OH 44053.
