Catherine M. Martincak, 85, Enjoyed Cooking, Baking and Sewing

Photo of Catherine M. Martincak Catherine M. Martincak (nee Chervenak), 85, of Lorain, died of natural causes on Tuesday March 1, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.

She was born August 29, 1925 in Czechoslovakia and had resided in Lorain since 1965. She had lived in Vermilion from 1931-1954 and Amherst from 1954-1965.

Catherine was a graduate of Vermilion High School. She was a member of Mary Mother of God Catholic Church in Lorain and a member of the former Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector. She was a member of Holy Trinity Seniors and the church Altar & Rosary Society and for many years served as the contact person to assemble the society to pray the rosary at funerals.

Catherine enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years Edward S. Martincak, children Edward M. Martincak of Palmetto, FL, Richard Martincak (Pattie) of Lorain, Paul Martincak (Robyn) of Germantown, MD and Mary Kay Bowen (Steve) of Lorain, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and sister-in-law Evelyn Chervenak of Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her son David Martincak, parents Nicholas and Mary Chervenak (nee Svaral) and brothers Paul and Anthony Chervenak.

The family will receive friends Friday 3 p.m. - 5 p.m., 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the members of the former Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Friday at 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, 310 8th St., Lorain. The Rev. Daniel Divis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Vermilion.
