Richard P. "Dick", "Ziggy" Ziegman, 80, US Army Veteran, Devoted Grandfather, Enjoyed Fishing and Baseball

He was born July 24, 1930 in Lorain and remained a lifelong resident.
Dick was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Lorain and retired in 1987 following 32 years of dedicated service.
Dick was member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain and it's Holy Name Society. He enjoyed fishing, reading western novels, theatre, and baseball. He was extremely devoted to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children Ellen Ziegman of North Royalton, Renee Alaksa of Minnesota, and Mark Ziegman of Lorain, grandchildren Derek, Anna, and Jonathan Sofchek, sister Lois Kostelich of Arizona, and brothers Glen Ziegman (Irene) of Elyria and James Ragnoni of Wadsworth.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Maryann Ziegman (nee Alaksa) in 2002, parents Adelbert and Margaret (nee Downing) Ziegman, and sister Betty De La France.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange St. in Vermilion. The Reverend Ron Brickner, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
The family suggests memorials to Residential Hospice of Southwest General, 18659 Drake Rd., Strongsville, OH 44136.
Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
