Theresa A. Zemanek, 89, LPN
Theresa A. Zemanek (nee Cisarik), 89, of Midland, Michigan and formerly of Avon Lake and Lorain, died Thursday March 17, 2011 at the Toni and Trish House for the Care of the Terminally Ill in Auburn, MI.
She was born October 21, 1921 in Lorain and moved to Avon Lake in 1950. In 2007, she relocated to Midland to be near her family.
Theresa was a graduate of the St. Joseph School of Practical Nursing and as a licensed practical nurse, worked at St. Joseph Hospital and also provided private nursing care. She retired in 1977. Prior to nursing, she also worked for 15 years at Freuhauf Trailer in Avon Lake.
Mrs. Zemanek was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Avon Lake and participated in the church bereavement committee and renew group. In Midland, MI she was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and enjoyed attending Knights of Columbus Soup Suppers and other church activities. She enjoyed golf, traveling with her husband and participated in the Avon Lake Women's League.
She is survived by her sons Luke A. Zemanek of Oak Harbor, OH and Charles F. (Tana) Zemanek of Midland, MI, 3 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Luke S. Zemanek on June 25, 1999, parents Valentine and Elizabeth (nee Bicanek) Cisarik, brothers Valentine, Joseph and Emil Cisarik and sister Mary Duda.
The family will receive friends Monday from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of her funeral mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 32929 Lake Road, Avon Lake, Ohio, 44012. The Rev. Timothy O'Connor, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain. The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who helped care for Theresa in her final days.
