Troy J. Newman, 73, Enjoyed Western Movies and Loved Spending Time with his Grandchildren

Photo of Troy J. Newman Troy J. Newman 73 of Lorain passed away Monday, April 11, 2011 in EMH Elyria Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born December 29, 1937 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He came to Lorain in the late 1940's. Mr. Newman was a self employed carpenter. He also worked for 11 years at Lorain Ford Assembly Plant. He was an owner of Newman-McDaniel's Trucking and sand pit in Amherst. He enjoyed western movies and working on cars. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his sons Darrell (Robin) Newman of Sheffield Township and Troy E. Newman of Lorain; his daughters Pamela (JR) Phillips of Wellington and Donna Newman of Lorain sisters Regina Beck, and Ruth Craig both of Amherst, Christine Meyers of Louisville, Kentucky and Wanda Newman of Sheffield Township; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Troy and Rosella (Née Mowery) Newman; son Michael W. Newman; brother Charles Newman; sister Betty Rush and a granddaughter Stephanie Newman.

His family will receive friends Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. Where his funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Reverend Lee Higgins pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, Amherst will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain.
