Joseph Dancisko, 89, Retired Carpenter

He was born October 31, 1921 in Sheffield Township and had been a lifelong Sheffield Township/Elyria Township area resident.
Joseph worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps from January 1940 to June 1940. He served with the US Army during World War II in the South Pacific Theater and was stationed in Japan, Guam and the Philippines. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon w/2 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Ribbon.
Joseph worked at TJ Hume Contractors as a carpenter retiring in 1983.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township and the church Holy Name Society. He enjoyed gardening and bowling.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years Hilda Agnes Dancisko (nee Nuhn), daughter Donna (John) Aunspaw of Avon, grandchildren John Aunspaw, James (Liz) Aunspaw and Julie Aunspaw, great grandchildren Austen, Jezika and Kaysei Beard and Jim Aunspaw, brother Alex Dancisko of Sheffield Township, nieces Georgene (Stephen) Muzilla and Virginia (Joseph) Bascone, all of Lorain and nephew David Dancisko. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Helen Dancisko (nee Ksenich), sister Anna Goikas and brothers Andrew, Peter, Michael, John and George Dancisko.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 28 from 3-5, 7-9 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29 at 9:00 am in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Rd., Elyria Twp.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
